Maddy Wolfenbarger

Maddy Wolfenbarger

Maddy was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee and moved to the western North Carolina area to obtain a B.A. in Environmental Humanities at Davidson College. Her degree fueled her passion to share the community and skills students can build while connecting to their relationship with the environment. Over the past four years, Maddy has worked at Talisman Summer Programs as a counselor, program manager, and, most recently, the Assistant Camp Director. Maddy was drawn to Black Mountain Academy due to its encompassing core values and commitment to playing and working with students side by side. From her experience, the most rewarding part of the field is the ability to watch and promote growth in each student over time as they work towards their goals. When she’s not playing games or going on adventures with the BMA students, she is typically hiking to gorgeous waterfalls and overlooks, paddle boarding, or cooking vegan food. She also secretly fosters a love for the arts, has acted in 16 shows, and is a classically trained singer with a focus in opera.
