For a decade, Black Mountain Academy’s classrooms have been shaped by a simple question: what does this student need to grow? Our academic model is intentionally built for neurodiverse learners – small class sizes, individualized instruction, and a curriculum that pairs core coursework with the executive functioning, self-advocacy, and social fluency skills students need long after graduation.

We meet students where they are, then challenge them to grow beyond it. That means building new skills, rebuilding confidence, and helping students move past obstacles that limited them in traditional academic settings. The result: students who leave Black Mountain Academy not just with credits, but with the tools to keep succeeding – in college, in careers, and in life.

Ten years in, we are very proud of an academic model that doesn’t treat “rigorous” and “individualized” as opposites.
