The Black Mountain Academy

Black Mountain Academy is a nurturing therapeutic boarding school supporting neurodiverse high school students. Our students are primarily ages 13-18, assigned males at birth with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or similar diagnoses. These diagnoses impact their success in traditional academic settings, affect their social and emotional development, and mental health.

Black Mountain Academy is a small home-like residential school and program that provides educational and therapeutic structure to bolster each individual’s strengths while addressing their complex needs. Each component of the Academy is designed to provide enriching experiences in various contexts, including on campus and within our local community, and outdoors daily. We aim to help students develop the skills and self-efficacy needed to improve social connections, executive function, emotional regulation, and independent living skills necessary for the 21st Century.
