Black Mountain Academy Shines in Cognia Accreditation Review

We are thrilled to announce that Black Mountain Academy has been re-accredited by Cognia, a highly respected nonprofit organization that accredits over 36,000 schools globally. The process evaluated our teaching methods, learning environment, and student performance, helping us enhance our educational practices and grow as a school.

Why is accreditation important?

While Black Mountain Academy follows the graduation standards and requirements for North Carolina, accreditation:

  • Confirms that Black Mountain Academy meets the internationally recognized benchmarks for teaching, curriculum, and student outcomes

  • Ensures that we are providing a quality education while continuing to grow and enhancing the learning experience for our students

  • Assures that our students will be ready for the challenges of college or future employment

  • Allows our teachers to refine their teaching methods to meet individual students’ needs

Accreditation Review Highlights Black Mountain Academy’s Excellence

The recent accreditation review of Black Mountain Academy has revealed some impressive findings. Not only did the academy score above average, but two strengths stood out as particularly noteworthy.

Firstly, the academy has implemented collaborative frameworks that greatly benefit learners and staff. These frameworks help everyone understand what is expected of them and encourage cooperation, creating a positive atmosphere for learning.

Secondly, Black Mountain Academy empowers its students by giving them a voice and promoting accountability. This focus on student empowerment helps enhance their academic and non-academic skills, providing a well-rounded educational experience.

This supportive environment is key in helping students set and achieve their personal goals—vital steps toward their educational and career aspirations. Black Mountain Academy’s approaches are truly making a difference in equipping students for success in their futures.

Looking Ahead

Reaccreditation does not indicate that we stop striving for improvement. In line with our principle of continuous growth, we will keep evaluating and accepting feedback to enhance our program.
